In this article we will show women in business how to do a social media refresh.

One of the biggest social media trends women in business should be aware of this 2021 is social commerce, or selling and marketing your goods using the various social media platforms.

The rise of social commerce cements the power of social media as a great place to grow your small business.

Make the most of your social media profiles for the rest of 2021 by reviewing, revamping and refreshing your social media strategy today.

When you’re ready to get started with updating your social media profiles, these are some great places to start:

1. Refresh your bios

Question: When was the last time you updated your social media account bios?

Are the photos from 2010? If you can’t recall, then it’s time to update them now.  Especially if you have done a recent photo shoot.

Take a quick peek and check to see if they are still relevant or if you need to make any important changes. Remember to always include a link to your website – for Instagram, also add a personalized hashtag – and you’re good to go.

2. Check out the competition, but don’t copy them.

Take some time to stalk your competitors. Observe their social media activities to find out what they are doing right and where they can improve.

Your observations and analysis will give you ideas for your accounts when you plan your social media strategy.  Remember to customize everything for your audience and to check out the competition, but definitely don’t copy them.

3. Look into new platforms for women in business

There are several new and not so new platforms out there today for women in business that you might want to check out. Since Facebook’s Artificial Intelligence has been shutting down accounts, many people are second guessing the social media platform.

It’s always a good thing to diversify your social media platforms.  Consider building clout on other popular platforms such as Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Clubhouse, Reddit and even Quora. They can each bring certain benefits to businesses of all kinds.

Evaluate which of these platforms might work for your business — no harm in joining and trying it out.  It can only expand your reach and visibility.

4. Invest in Automation

Save some time by using a social media scheduling tool. All you have to do is post your content, and it will automatically post it to your chosen social media accounts.

It already takes a lot of time to create your content, and you don’t want to consume more of your time posting them every day on all the platforms you use.

Some of the more popular social media scheduling tools are Buffer, Post Planner and Hootsuite to name a few.  You just have to pick the ones that work best for your business and your style.

5. Run the Analytics

Regularly check the analytics of your social media content, such as posts and stories. Almost all social media platforms have analytics available on the dashboard. Reviewing them will give you a clear picture of what types of content get the most engagements and conversions.
