Guess what they found?  The company that did take the time write out a business plan was a whopping 16% more likely to become viable.  With results like that there is no other conclusion other than that it really does pay to plan. And the best time to write a business plan is right from the start.

But entrepreneurs should also be flexible and agile and willing to pivot in their business because you never know what challenges that may come up in business. Having a plan keeps you focused but it shouldn’t make you trapped.
